PENGARUH ASUPAN GIZI DAN STATUS TEMPAT TINGGAL (INDEKOS DAN NON INDEKOS) TERHADAP SIKLUS MENSTRUASI PADA MAHASISWI UNIVERSITAS TADULAKO
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The menstrual cycle is an important indicator of women's reproductive health which is influenced by nutritional intake and living environment. Female students who live in boarding houses have the potential to have an irregular diet so that it can affect hormonal balance and menstrual cycles. This study aims to determine the influence of nutritional intake and residence status (boarding houses and non-boarding houses) on the menstrual cycle in female students of Tadulako University. The method used is observational quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach on 88 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were obtained through a menstrual cycle questionnaire and a 3 × 24-hour food recall form, then analyzed by Spearman Rank, Mann-Whitney, and ordinal logistic regression tests. The majority of respondents had a lack of energy intake of 90.9%, a lack of protein of 62.5%, a lack of fat 63.6%, and a lack of carbohydrates of 94.3%. A total of 44 respondents lived in boarding houses and 44 respondents lived in non-boarding houses. In addition, 64.8% of respondents had normal menstrual cycles, 22.7% polymenorrhea, and 12.5% oligomenorrhea. The results of the bivariate test showed that there was no significant relationship between energy intake (p=0.462), protein (p=0.580), fat (p=0.800), and carbohydrates (p=0.421), as well as residence status (p=0.137) and menstrual cycle. Multivariate analysis also showed no significant effect (p>0.05), so there is no significant effect was found between nutritional intake and residence status on the menstrual cycle.
